Overview
IKnowEnough Trivia (“the App”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored, and your rights regarding your personal data.
We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Swedish data protection law.
Data Controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is the operator of IKnowEnough Trivia. For contact information, see the App Store listing or use the in-app feedback tool.
What We Collect
Account Information
- Email address (used for authentication)
- Display name and username (chosen by you)
- Profile picture selection (chosen from in-app avatars only — you cannot upload custom images)
- Authentication provider (Google, Apple, Facebook, or email)
Usage & Progress Data
- Reading history and progress (which subjects you've read, how far)
- Quiz scores and statistics (average score, perfect quizzes, XP)
- Streaks (daily challenge streak, reading streak)
- Achievements and tier/level progression
- Theme and display preferences
- Favorites and collections you create
Social Features
- Friends list (user IDs of connected users)
- Shared content between friends, including optional comments and replies
- Friend requests sent and received
Comments may be automatically screened for spam or abusive content. If a message is flagged — either by automated systems or by another user — we may review it to take appropriate action.
Feedback
- Content you submit through the feedback or reporting tools
Technical Data
- Device type and operating system (collected automatically by Firebase)
- Approximate location — country and region (derived from IP address by Firebase, not precise GPS)
- App version
- Crash reports and error logs (if applicable)
What We Do Not Collect
- Precise location or GPS data
- Contacts or phone number
- Financial or payment information
- Advertising identifiers
Why We Collect Data
We use your data for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain your account and progress
- To enable social features (friends, sharing)
- To track your learning progress, streaks, and achievements
- To improve app content and fix errors based on feedback
- To diagnose technical issues and improve app performance
Legal basis (GDPR Article 6): Processing is based on (a) your consent when creating an account, (b) contractual necessity to provide the service, and (c) our legitimate interest in improving the App.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted on servers within the EU (eur3 — Belgium/Netherlands multi-region).
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to the database is restricted to authorized personnel only.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request account deletion through the in-app feedback tool. Upon confirmed deletion, your personal data will be removed within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, and hosting
- Google Sign-In — optional login method
- Apple Sign-In — optional login method (iOS)
- Facebook Login — optional login method
These services have their own privacy policies. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Your Rights (GDPR)
As an EU/EEA resident, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the in-app feedback tool or the email address in the App Store listing. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) or your local data protection authority.
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us. We will investigate and, if confirmed, remove the account and associated data.
For users aged 13–15 in the EU, parental consent may be required under GDPR. By using the App, the user or their guardian confirms they meet the applicable age requirements.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
